Good morning, Eugene! Here’s a helping of news and events that are as delicious as a fresh hood strawberry.

🍓 Strawberry season is here

For those of you who have been visiting the farmers markets lately, you’ve probably noticed that strawberry season is very much back. If you want to head out and harvest your own there are plenty of opportunities to do so within a few minutes (ok, maybe more than just a few but still not too many!) of Eugene. A great way to find local farms is through the Willamette Valley Food and Farm Coalition Locally Grown Guide. We haven’t seen the 2025 edition yet but the 2024 guide should still point you in the right direction.

🥎 UO Softball and baseball teams have a big weekend ahead

The march towards the college world series and women’s college world series continues for the UO men’s baseball and women’s softball teams. The UO ladies showed out over the weekend with a thorough trouncing of Liberty to punch their ticket to Oklahoma City. This upcoming weekend the men’s team will play host for the regional round with a chance to advance to the super regional and then (fingers crossed) the college world series.

🚲️ The last week of bike month

May is bike month, and Eugene has celebrated with events taking place throughout the area. Luckily for you, there are still a few days left in May and plenty of events to participate in. So if you want to celebrate life on two wheels take a look at the full event calendar here.

Business Happenings

🥧 So long, Shari’s: Pies are out and low-cost checking accounts are in as the old Shari’s building in Springfield’s Gateway area looks to be slated for demolition. Rising in its place will be a new building for the Washington-based TwinStar Credit Union.

👶 Tot Tuesdays: Hey Napoleon, gimme some of your tots. Oops..wrong tots. Tot Tuesday is back at Tugman Park, so pack up a picnic blanket and a lunch and bring your little tots (ages 0 - 5) out for some fun in the park. 11:30 AM Tugman City Park

🎤 Karaoke cabaret: Join Chaos Kitten Burlesque at The Sparrow and Serpent Pub for an evening where you provide the vocals and they provide the entertainment. 9 PM The Sparrow and Serpent Pub

🥬 Tuesday farmers market: Escape the weekend crowds at the Tuesday version of the Lane County Farmers Market. 9 AM - 2 PM 8th & Oak Sts

🫖 Tea tasting Tuesday: Have a newfound love of teas after attending the Tea Fest over the weekend? Head over to Swahili African Crafts for their weekly tea tasting. A new flavor will be introduced each week. 10 AM - 7 PM Swahili African Crafts

🪡 Sew a mini stuffy: Have a kid ages 9 - 12 who needs something to do on a Tuesday afternoon? Bring them to the downtown library, where they can learn how to sew their own felt mini-stuffy. All materials are provided. 4:30 PM Downtown Library

🚲️ Wednesday shop ride: Meet up with some fellow Eugene bike riders for a weekly shop ride leaving from Bicycle Way of Life. These 90 to 100-minute rides are moderately paced. 6 PM Bicycle Way of Life

🥞 Community builders breakfast: Join the team at Direction Services, a non-profit helping individuals with special needs, for a community-building breakfast. Here you can connect with partners, meet the staff, and learn how you can help the mission. 8:30 AM The Shedd Institute

🍔 Burgers and business: Are you in the real estate world? If so, this networking lunch is right up your alley. Network, hear from local real estate experts, and more! 11:30 AM Dickie Jo's Event Room

❓️ Pop culture trivia: Do you know the latest on Zendaya’s engagement? What about the latest Kardashian gossip? If so, this is the trivia night for you! 8 PM Starlight Lounge

⚽️ LUFC vs Bigfoot: Head down to Civic Park to cheer on the Lane United Football Club as they battle Bigfoot FC. 7 PM Civic Park

🃏 Cribbage night: Put your cribbage skills to the test at The Beer Stein. $5 gets you four games, and the top performers will go home with gift cards to The Beer Stein. 6:30 PM The Beer Stein

🤣 Sarah Sherman comes to town: Come see SNL star Sarah Sherman(her skits during Weekend Update are always some of our favorites) as she performs for one night only at Olsen Run. As of Monday afternoon, there are still tickets available for the late show. 9:30 PM Olsen Run Comedy Club

Thursday 5.29

🧸 Family play time: Bring the kids to the Bethel Branch Library for some playtime. Here they can play with the library toys, create art, listen to music, and more! 10:15 AM Bethel Branch Library

🤝 YP speed networking: Come meet some fellow young professionals at this speed networking event. These events typically sell out early, so make sure to sign up ahead of time for the next one! 5:30 PM Bierstein

🎺 Louis: Watch (and hear) a new take on the 2010 silent film Louis. Accompanying the film will be musicians Wynton Marsalis & Cecile Licad, who will provide the film’s score. 7:30 PM Jaqua Concert Hall

🔢 Bingo at Ninkasi: Put on your favorite bingo visor and head to Ninkasi for an evening of games, beverages, and tasty eats. You get one bingo card per beverage order. 6 PM Ninkasi

⚾️ Parlor talk with the Emeralds: Join former Emeralds players at the Shelton McMurphey Johnson House for an evening of talking baseball and history. 6 PM Shelton McMurphey Johnson House

🤣 Kyle Kinane at Olsen Run: Cap off the (almost) end of the week with some laughs courtesy of comedian Kyle Kinane. If these shows are sold out he’ll be on stage all weekend long…well, maybe not ALL weekend. 7 PM Olsen Run Comedy Club
