🏃 Pre Classic Turns 50
One of the country’s premier track meets, the Pre Classic, turns 50 this weekend as some of the best athletes in track and field descend upon Eugene. Don’t have your tickets yet for this Saturday's event? If there are any left additional tickets will be released at 9:30 AM on Saturday morning (the meet starts at 10).
🧑🚒 New fire restrictions go into effect
Oregon BLM has announced new fire restrictions that went into effect yesterday, July 3rd. They include bans on campfires outside of designated campgrounds as well as requirements to carry fire suppression tools if you’re in the wilderness. So if you’re planning on heading out into the wilderness for the long weekend, recreate safely and responsibly.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🍾 Woodcraft closes their doors: It’s a sad day for woodworkers around Eugene as Woodcraft closed its doors for good on June 30th. As a woodworker myself, I’ll certainly miss the easy access to browsing the latest and greatest in tools and supplies.
🍓 Blended plans second location at 5th St Market: Blended is planning on opening a second location, conveniently located right next to their current location, in the 5th St Market Alley. This spot will be less smoothie and more grab-and-go soup, salads, and sandwiches, perfect for that quick lunch. The space is under construction now with a planned opening in late summer.
