Riverfront Fun Gets Its Big Debut

Eugene's new Downtown Riverfront Park Plaza is already open, and the bigger party is still ahead. The grand opening celebration runs Sept. 12-14 with live music, food trucks and family activities. The one-acre space packs in a tree grove, splash pad, public art, adventure playground and river-view seating.

Sunday Plans, Sorted at Gilbert Park

Gilbert Park is serving up a full Sunday sampler from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community Days brings free art and performances, plus a book walk, scavenger hunt, story time, snacks, a sensory area, community partners, a park betterment activity, and live music by Come Jazz You Are at 615 Gilbert St.

Mockingbird BBQ Opens Downtown

Mockingbird BBQ opened last Friday in downtown Eugene at 45 E. Eighth Ave. The new restaurant is owned by Sebastian Price and serves central Texas-style barbecue. The menu includes smoked brisket, sandwiches, salads and tamales. Hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday.
