Eugene Lowdown 32 Events to Choose From This Weekend
Everything Happening In Eugene In Your Inbox Twice A Week!
Tomorrow brings pet-friendly browsing on Barger Drive, then Sunday is pie, pedals, and a new bike share twist.

Good morning. It's Friday, August 28. This weekend brings a mix of community events and outdoor plans, with opportunities to connect with local organizations and neighbors. If you're looking for a simple way to get out and do something local, you've got options. Alright, here's today's edition of your Eugene Lowdown.

Annual Ride Returns Sunday

The 27th annual Blackberry bRamble rolls back into Alton Baker Park on Sunday with fully supported 17-, 40-, 60-, 75- and 100-mile routes, then finishes with Mom's blackberry pie and Prince Puckler's Ice Cream. This year's new Bike Share Challenge aims to boost cycling equity while benefiting Twilight Operations.

The Night Eugene Won Dolly Over

Eugene gave Dolly Parton more than applause. During a difficult 1972 stop with Porter Wagoner at the Lane County Fairgrounds, the crowd's warmth helped lift a struggling young performer and inspired "Eugene, Oregon." The little-known track stayed unreleased for decades, while Parton's Imagination Library later reached nearly 480,000 local children.

Pets, Prizes, and a Busy Saturday

If your weekend plans could use more wagging tails, The Ark Veterinary Clinic's annual Pet Fair is tomorrow from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at 4965 Barger Drive. Expect vendors, food, drinks, prize chances, and a lineup of local businesses and pet groups ready to meet animal-loving visitors.
