Eugene Lowdown Drums on the Riverfront, Deals at the Opera
Everything Happening In Eugene In Your Inbox Twice A Week!
Saturday brings free samba at Riverfront Park, and this week is your last chance to snag Eugene Opera's early bird deal.

Good morning. It's Tuesday, July 28. One minute it's drum workshops by the river, the next it's Shakespeare-level drama with Verdi and a promo code. Consider this your gentle nudge to plan ahead, then pretend it was all spontaneous. Alright, here's today's edition of your Eugene Lowdown.

Riverfront Rhythms Are on the Way

Downtown Riverfront Park trades quiet for percussion on Aug. 1 as the free, all-ages Axe Samba Festival fills the afternoon with Northwest samba groups, including Samba Ja. Expect performances, audience-friendly drum and dance lessons, food vendors, and plenty of Brazilian-inspired rhythm from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Early Bird Deal Ends Friday

Eugene Opera will present Giuseppe Verdi's "Macbeth" on September 25 and September 27 at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts as part of its 50th anniversary season. Tickets are on sale now. An early bird special offering buy one ticket and get a second half off is available through Friday with promo code 50FOR50. The production will be sung in Italian with English titles.
