Eugene Lowdown This Week in Eugene: Go, See, Do!
Everything Happening In Eugene In Your Inbox Twice A Week!
Himalayan art exhibition debuts, and Thurston High students donate refurbished computers locally.

Good morning. It's Tuesday, April 28. Eugene is feeling quietly ambitious right now: big ideas in local classrooms, and big culture on the walls when you need a brain break. If you have a spare hour (or a spare laptop part), there is something in town that could use your curiosity. Alright, here's today's edition of your Eugene Lowdown:

A Passport to Himalayan Art

Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is opening Gateway to Himalayan Art, a special exhibition spotlighting religious and cultural works from Tibet, Nepal, China and Mongolia. Created with the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art, it spans pieces from the 13th through 21st centuries. Expect videos and audio, plus Wednesday hours extended until 8 p.m. through April.

Tech Turnaround Turns Scraps Into Laptops

Three Thurston High School students are proving old tech still has mileage. Tech Turnaround, guided by computer science teacher Ben Barrett, refurbishes donated and broken hardware into working computers for the THS Family Resource Center. More than 20 devices have already been donated, with 16 more in the works before the school year ends.
