Good morning. It's Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Eugene is doing that classic spring thing: a little culture, a little community, and a lot of reasons to leave the house hungry or inspired. Whether you're chasing music, murals, or the perfect dumpling bite, the city is serving. Alright, here's today's edition of Eugene Lowdown:
📰 LOCAL NEWS LOWDOWN
Soup Dumplings! Watch Your Tongue!
Eugene, meet your next delicious problem: Steam & Soul Dumplings is now open on Coburg Road, serving handmade favorites like soup dumplings (xiao long bao), potstickers (guo tie), and pan-fried buns (sheng jian bao). Not just dumplings, either: there is noodle soups, fried rice, and stir-fries. With 4.6 stars on Google, they are already doing things right!
UO Just Booked Your April
The University of Oregon just handed Eugene a ready-made April calendar: Oregon Bach Festival tickets go on sale April 1 for the festival's 56th summer, plus a 20% discount for UO staff and faculty. The Museum of Natural and Cultural History opens its new exhibition "America at 250: Before, Between, Beyond" on April 17. And UO alum Alexi Pappas returns April 23 for a 10th-anniversary screening of "Tracktown."
Teens Go Big With Public Art
The Eugene Family YMCA is putting young artists on a bigger canvas with a new workshop: the Youth Art Wall Collective. It's led by artist Esteban Camacho, who created the mural in the YMCA's Aquatics Center, and it focuses on conceptual and technical skills for large-scale public artwork. The program emphasizes environmental and cultural stewardship, and the final work will be displayed at the YMCA.
