Two Japanese Restaurants Announced
Springfield's Ocean Garden owners are adding two new Japanese spots to the local dining mix. A new Ocean Garden noodle shop is planned for 1835 Pioneer Parkway E. in the former Naya's Taqueria space, while Genki Sushi will open next to the original restaurant on Main Street by early September.
Jazz Sets Sail Beyond the Sea
The Shedd Institute's 35th annual Oregon Festival of American Music is already in full swing and runs through Aug. 22. "Beyond The Sea" follows American music's global detours, from Brazil and France to the British Isles and roots traditions, with Artistic Director Chuck Redd leading eight concerts, talks, films, sing-alongs and a Jazz Party.
Sequel Car Meet Set for Next Saturday
Midnight Movement is bringing back its car meet sequel Aug. 22 in Springfield, with engines, builds and camera rolls all expected to show up. The event runs 5-10 p.m. at 2650 Main St. and promises drifting, music, food vendors and plenty of photo-worthy rides.
City Seeks Operator for Library Cafe
The downtown Eugene Public Library has an opening for someone who can serve snacks with the stacks. If your dream job involves espresso and a side of story time, here's your (ahem) shot. The city is seeking a new concessionaire to run the cafe in the entry garden Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Letters of interest are due by 5 p.m. on Thursday.
